  • Beginning of the End

    The rumors were true - the island has been assaulted with a barrage of natural disasters, but I did not think it so severe. The Infirmary is under tended and the bodies are piling higher, the list of the missing seems to only increase every time I glance at it. Whilst my first night staying in the make-shift lodgings here was uneventful beside meeting with a guard and tending to his sore hands, my second was completely different. I accompanied a guard, a blonde man by the name of Ulfrik, an angora cat by the name of Meem whom is an entertainer of the house, a rodent man called Elliot and a few others on a rescue mission for the remaining stranded. The tunnels were dank, cramped and worse of filled with biting, scratching rats. I had intending on seeing the wounded afterward, but the end of my evening had such a dramatic climax. Myself, Ulfrik, Meem and Elliot split off from the others to trek down a forked tunnel, and found a man name by the name of Lawrence - a red haired woman was by his side, but I did not get any mention of her name. Lawrence's leg had been crushed by boulder and had been for the past six days, Ulfrik and I - with the aid of Elliot - pulled the boulder out of the way and the red haired lady and Meem tugged him free. Meem then went ahead and prepared a room in the infirmary whilst we carried the afghan hound; his leg was far too damaged for me to save, and in the end I had to preform an emergency amputation. Several medics have been kept on his watch, but the female angora - his lover? - remained by his side. I must make of note of getting everyone on our rescue team a shot, and check up on Lawrence to see how he's getting on.
    
    I write this in this lodger even as every muscle in my body is screaming at me to rest, my eyes can barely stay open much longer, but I'm glad that I have finally put my medical experience to good use. Far too long I've been wasted upon the rich and elderly, and this was exactly what I needed to jump start my love for medicine. I will continue to update should more events arise, but for now I am going to pass out. Allons-y!
